This past Saturday I spent a good part of the day with 6 other fellow Zonta Sisters on a mini-group Zoom for our district workshop. While we broke for lunch we did another shipping party for Free The Girls. Over the last few years we have collected well over 4,000 bras for Human Trafficking Survivors to start their own business and get back into family and community life.
Here are some pics from that shipping party. This time around we collected and shipped 455 in about 7 boxes.
At a past event one of the members also took up a collection for Free The Girls and we donated $500, I believe. We've done several shipping parties over the last several years and sometime we try and do something a little different. This time around we had found this dinosaur in the nearby storage room of the building and thought it would be fun to incorporate them.
We've been getting more snow over the last 2 days. I'm beginning to think that this winter will never end. We are getting more - as I type this. That didn't stop us from getting out and about for at least a little bit yesterday. We went to ALDI and Ollie's. I found a few cheap vegan cookbooks at Ollie's. They are usually good for it.
Here's the other book I found and purchased. I have yet to jump into them tho. Maybe this week.
I was pretty excited to also find this natural deodarant for cheap at Ollie's. I originally went back to the store to purchase cheap rice and Tasty Bite meals for lunches. With all of what I did buy I think I only spent roughly $20.
OH! I forgot to mention that the 16th was my birthday. I turned 43. And that I have been struggling with pain issues again. It doesn't help that I had a nasty fall down the stairs last week. I'm such a klutz. I'm finally starting to feel a tad better where I had (and still have) the bruises.
I also forgot to mention that Saturday morning before going to the Zonta Workshop I needed to pick up some snacks to bring. I located this Cauliflower Hummus at my local Tops Market. I had not seen this flavor locally or have even tried it up to that point. I hope they continue to carry it.
A little over a week ago I saw this Quinoa Salad over at a local "buy out" store. I had it for lunch last week and it was pretty decent. I hope to go back and see if they have more. If they do - I am going to buy them for lunches at work. They are cheap and handy. I added a little bit of Tahini to part of this and enjoyed it even more! I think these will be pretty versatile, too!
I think I will end this post right now but I have a couple more entries on tap, too, so stay tuned!
