Last summer my parents, sister, niece, and I took a day trip to Penn's Caves in Centre Hall, PA, and really LOVED it. This will actually be a 2-part post with the first one, here, starting off as part of my Thursday 13 for this week.
This first (of 13) cave photos is when we entered the cave and looking back at the entrance of the cave. Of course, we all wore our masks during the boat ride thru the caves.
The next several photos are from various sections within the caves. In another blog post I will show non-cave photos from our trip. You can see the stalagmites and stalagtites in these photos.
Some of them formed shapes that resembled other familiar things like The Statue of Liberty, Garden of the Gods, an Owl, and more.
So much to look at and see! Centuries ago - members of the Seneca Tribe discovered the landmark.
Have you ever been to a cave before? If so which one(s)? I would love to hear about them!
This was a photo of us existing the one cave and getting to float around on the small lake for a little bit. There were many birds and other animals enjoying the water and sun that day.
Here's another look at the spot. In places you had to duck your head or move to the side a bit.
In a part of the one cave they had an impressive light display. They did several solid colors and then they had one that was multi-colored.
The first one is blue and this one is green. I took many more photos but I picked some of my faves for this post.
And here it is red. I'm not sure which is my favorite color. What do you think?
Then came the multi-colored ones which were impressive, too! I was able to get some good close-ups.
All I could think of is trying to climb these. Of course - we couldn't - and I wouldn't - now - but - in my younger days I may have tried.
And there you have it - my Thursday 13 - in the caves. Stay tuned to my next post for the other surroundings of Penn's Caves, too.
