During COVID we tried to take some day trips - just DH and I - and traveling to Elmira, NY, was one of them. We located The Mark Twain Study at Elmira College in Elmira, NY. In this post I will share some of those photos. This first one is the National Register of Historic Places Plaque that is placed on the front door of the study.
Here is a photo of the actual study that is near one of the entrances of the college that can been seen from the road and sidewalk. It has a lovely octagon shape to it. As many you may know - Mark Twain - is known for his many books - but did you know he also wrote over 120 poems?
As I looked to the left of the study I saw this beautiful fountain - and in the background you can see part of the college, too. The grounds were lovely.
I will be doing another post about some other Mark Twain Finds in the Elmira, NY, area, but I wanted to post about his study, separately. Here you can read a little bit more about the surroundings.
This was a photo looking down one of the other walkways of the college - not too far from his study.
And the official Historical Sign. I just love seeing these and learning more about the surroundings. We have a lot of them where I live and I hope to start including some of them on this blog soon, too.
And finally, a photo looking inside the small study. I could only imagine what is was like walking by and seeing Mark Twain at work. Or what was going thru his mind while he was in his study actively writing.
