I was thinking about HEMP SEEDS lately and thought it would be a neat idea for a post to have 10 Vegan recipes that focused on the mighty Hemp Seed.
First up is this Creamy Garlic Alfredo White Sauce that I used on Pasta. Here are the ingredients:
1 Cup Hemp Seeds
1 Cup Cashews
1 Cup Almond Milk
1/2 Cup Nutritional Yeast
2 T Lemon Juice
2 to 4 Cloves Garlic
About 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
I added everything to a high speed blender & added it to pasta. It's also a nice dip/sauce for bread sticks.
This is an old classic! Cucumber Tomato Salad! You could also add Onions if you wish! For the tangy-vinegar-based marinade I used 3 Tablespoons of Red Wine Vinegar and 2 Tablespoons of Organic/Vegan Sugar. I also threw in 2 Tablespoons of Hemp Seeds. Waaa-Laaa! Easy/Peasy!
Creamy Hemp Italian Dressing - again - all ingredients into a blender:
1/2 Cup Hemp Seeds
1/2 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1/2 Cup Lemon Juice
2 Tablespoons Italian Seasoning
1 Tablespoon Garlic (Dried/Minced)
Pinch Black Himalayan Sea Salt
Rosemary Hemp Seed Pesto - you know I threw everything into a blender:
1/3 C Hemp Seeds
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Grapeseed Oil
1 teaspoon Rosemary
1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
1/4 Cup Nurtitional Yeast
1/4 C Onion Shoots (Sprouts from the tops of Onions)
Pinch of Cayenne
Water & Sea Salt - if and as needed
You could use Green Onions or Chives instead of Onion Shoots, too
Hemp-Basil-Chive-Pesto - I put everything into a blender - 'don't ya know':
1 Cup Chopped Chives
1/2 C Basil Pesto Grapeseed Oil (orBasil Infused Grapeseed Oil)
1 Clove Garlic
2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
3 Tablespoons Almond Milk
1/4 Cup Hemp Seeds
1/4 Cup Nutritional Yeast
Water - if/as needed
Hemp Red Pepper Hummus Dressing - you guessed it - all in a blender:
1/4 Cup Red Pepper Hummus (or regular hummus and you could add fresh sweet red pepper)
1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
3 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
2 Tablespoons Minced Garlic
2 teaspoons Maple Syrup
Handful Nutritional Yeast
Handful Hemp Seeds
Squirt of Cocounut (or Bragg's Liquid) Aminos
Splash of Pumpkin Oil (or other oil)
Water if/as needed
Creamy Red Pepper Vinaigrette - you know the drill - blend it - blend it good:
1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1/2 Cup Cashews
3 Tablespoons Hemp Seeds
5 Mini Sweet Red Peppers (or 2 regular sized)
1/2 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
1/2 Cup (or more) Water (to thin)
1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
For a more savory flavor add a squirt or two of Coconut Aminos, Bragg's Liquid Amino's, or Soy Sauce.
Hemp Mac & Cheese - Ingredients include:
1 Cup Sunflower Seeds
1/2 Cup Potato Flakes***
4 Cloves Garlic, Minced
2 Tablespoons Onion, Dried/Minced
Handful of Hemp Seeds
Splash Pumpkin Oil (or other oil)
1/3 Cup Nurtitional Yeast
1 Hefty Squirt Yellow Mustard
1 Cup Water
2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
Sprinkle each of Black Sea Salt, Nutmeg, Smoked Paprika, Turmeric
Top with more Smoked Paprika - if you wish
*** If you don't have potato flakes you can use plain instant mashed potatoes.
Hemp Sour Cream - another blender recipe - ingredients:
1 Cup Cashews
3/4 Cup Almond Milk
2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
4 Tablespoons Hemp Seeds
1/2 teaspoon Jalapeno Powder (optional)
Pinch Pink Himilayan Sea Salt
Hemp Power Potatoes - not just in the blender - shocker - It's easier if you make the potato flakes/instant mashed potatoes first and then slowly add the rest of the ingredients while stirring often in a big pot:
1 Pound Yellow Potatoes (mostly peeeled) - or the equivelant of potato flakes
2 Cloves Garlic
1/4 Tablespoon Tahini
1/2 Cup Almond Milk
Splash of Lemon Juice
2 teaspoons Hemp Seeds
Handful Dried Parsely
Small Handful Nutritional Yeast
