I have been doing a lot of thinking lately. Not to get 'down in the dumps' but a lot of what I have been thinking about are the people that have been passing away lately and those who have been having serious health problems.
On Monday - we attended DH's Cousin's funeral. I have been thinking about my aunt who has Blood Cancer, too, as she is dealing with multiple complications. And we have also lost a few friends/acquaintances in our community again.
I've been trying to think of other things but I keep coming back to those who are struggling. My heart goes out to everyone dealing with these and other issues.
Prior to the pandemic - DH and I would jump in the car and take a day trip a couple hours from home - which for us - is the Buffalo/Cleveland/North of Pittsburgh Areas. But these past few years the day trips are few and far between. I love seeing sights and lately we haven't even been doing that between COVID and - now - winter. The photo above is of 'this time of year' in Letchworth State Park. It's a stock photo. I much prefer photos of it when it's full of life, color, and spring/summer. When we went a couple of years ago it was Pre-Fall. It was lovely. We have been talking about going back but haven't yet. I have been craving an outing, that's for sure.
Another thing I have been craving - are different foods. It makes me think of the VegFests I have attended in the past - as well as the ones I have missed the last 4 years (or so). I was going thru my old blog and came across this post from one of them. In the above photo - is Bonda and Vadai - from The Dosa Place in Buffalo (during that time). Bonda - is a Potato Fried Ball with onion and spices. I might try this at home soon. Ever since we did the Potato Cakes the other day - I have been thinking about this. And - the other item - is Vadai - which was basically a savory lentil donut of sorts. Donuts are something I have never made myself because it's right up the same alley as baking and I screw up baking things each and every time. Regardless, both of these were great and I have been craving them lately.
In other news - I received some happy mail yesterday - but - I am going to save it for my Thursday Thirteen Post - so stay tuned for that. And...I will have a Wordless Wednesday shortly, too.
