My post about the Animal Crossing: New Horizon updates are long past due but I'm kind of glad I waited because now there are some winter/holiday things I wanted to blog about, too.  Now, the things I will be covering are the things I focus on in the game - not necessarily all of the updates they offer.

I was thrilled to see that there was a coffee shop added to the left/back side of the museum and that Brewster is back!  He's a bird of few words but if you frequent he'll give you DIY Recipes which is cool.

Something I have done just about everyday since they added it was taking a boat ride with Kapp'n to an island.  It's costs 1,000 Bells per ride and you can only ride once per day but there are some really neat stuff you can find there.  I was able to get carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, wheat, and sugar to take back to my island and grow.  You can then make stuff with the ingredients or sell them for a profit.  Another neat thing is that each island has at least one gyroid you can dig up, take back to your island, plant for a day, water, dig up the next day, and it's a full gyroid which I have been collecting and displaying.

Like I mentioned above you can now obtain those crops and plant.  Once they grow you can cook with them...you will have to collect recipes for them and once you do you can make them, eat them, gift them, or sell them.  There is also a new special cooking stove that I have placed 2 of outside because they are made of stone and look really cool.

Harv - the hippie dog - that had his own island he used for photo sessions has branched out.  You can donate to several vendors for like a co-op type commune community which is really neat but also expensive to start.  Once you get the vendors in and settled I noticed some familiar faces from this version of the game as well as some from older versions/platforms of Animal Crossing including the Fortune Teller among others.

They've also added Island Ordinances.  To be honest, I started with the Beautification one and haven't switched it.  It makes it so there aren't as many weeds and other characters help maintain the island with watering and planting flowers so it's just not all on you.  I have been really enjoying this because I have been able to obtain some of the colors of flowers that I had not been able to before.

Your character can now participate in group stretching, too.  If you do this often you can win Nook Miles/Perks/Prizes/What-ever-you-want-to-call-them.  I've only done this a few times when it prompted me to to obtain more Nook Miles to work towards something I wanted to buy in the mail catalog shop.

There are many new items in the Mail Order Catalog, too, including Amusement Park Rides that have a color theme which I am currently working on buying and placing on my island.

I'm sure there are other things with that major update that I haven't covered but hope to down the road.

On to the Winter and Holiday things you can do.  First - not that it's new - but it's seasonal - the snow is back and covering everything!  Trees, Houses, Fences, etc.  You can once again catch snowflakes with your net, build snowboys, and Isabelle has decorated the cedar trees with Christmas Lights!  This (may be) new because I don't recall it from last year.  You can shake the trees and some of the lightbulbs will drop off, you can collect them, and make wreaths and big decorated trees with them.

There are new recipes and DIY things you can do including a new Frozen Mini Snowperson of which I have already made 2 for my island.  These are just a few of the things I have noticed in my game.

OH!  And...I did earn the golden watering can and it works very well!  Covers much more area while watering and it's produced 2 gold roses for me so far!  I'm very happy with these updates especially since I tend to unwind at the end of the day and it helps me relax and get drowsy for bed.  And of course, being in quarantine, it's been nice to not only have something to do but keep my mind off of it for a while.
