After 22 years in Radio - I decided to make a career move. I'm in Business Development for a Home Health Company now. I've been learning a lot about Alzheimer's and Dementia (among other things). My Grandfather - who I never met (he passed away before I was born) had Alzheimer's but they didn't diagnose him until after her died.
In less than 2 years I have taken quiet a bit of training. Some of them were: The Effects of Social Isolation on Those Living with Dementia, Using Meaningful Activities to Engage People with Dementia, Dementia Care For the Holidays, How To Communicate with Someone Living with Dementia, How Dementia Effects the Brain, Introduction to Senior Gems, Senior Gems - Techniques For Success, Senior Gems Marketing, Senior Gems Coaching Programs, and I'm also Senior Gems Train the Trainer Certified now - which means - I can train our caregivers on our Senior Gems Program.
Our Senior Gems Program is care for those with Alzheimer's and Dementia and is developed by Teepa Snow. It's a more positive approach so it focuses on what they can do - verses what they can't. Each "gem" represents a different stage of the disease.
I have to admit - I have really been enjoying learning and helping others learn, too. I have taken other trainings - as well - but will cover those in a different post.
